Carving a squash, melon, or pumpkin isn’t about celebrating a holiday. It’s about creating something new!
Day 351: Carve a Melon, Pumpkin, or Other
It may not be the time of year for it but it definitely can be fun to carve a melon, pumpkin, gourd, squash, etc., The best tools for carving squashes and melons are actually linoleum tools. Don’t have a set? A grape fruit fruit spoon, and a sharp knife can go a long way. Try not to just carve out a face and eyes to stick a candle into; but actually work out a bas-relief. Get a magic marker and draw a basic face or object on your pumpkin/melon. Then slowly carve away the layers to reveal your creation.
