Alferian is an active practicing druid. Not only that but he is also a 32nd degree freemason. Perhaps, most intriguing is that he is a wand maker. As many people in today’s culture would believe, wands are something that only exist in fictional tales. However Alferian owner and master wand crafter at Bard Woodcrafts is here to tell us about what it is he does as a wandmaker and the function of wands.

JackDirt: What does it entail to be a practicing druid in today’s industrial times?
Alferian: That depends a great deal on who you are and where you live. Druids in Britain, Scotland, and Ireland, for example, have the advantage of being on the home turf, so to speak. They can go to the many stone circles, fairy mounds, or other ancient monuments in the landscape to honor the ancient divinities and their ancestors. As an American, my situation is different because my blood ancestors only go back about four generations on this land and were interlopers who destroyed the natural environment in an attempt to make European-style farms and towns.
Excommunicate, proudly presents an interview with yet another incredibly talented artist, Keith Thompson. Keith is perhaps the most imaginative artist I have seen. Not only do his illustrations evoke a world of the fantastic and surreal but; he even goes the extra mile to write a background story to each one.
Keith is a freelance artist who’s been featured in Spectrum art annuals, as well as in Ballistics Publishing collections. He tends to work in publishing, film, and video games.
In 2005 he was featured in the Spectrum Art Exhibit held at the Museum of American Illustration in New York. His piece The Prophet was included in a set of art chosen from all the artwork of the past 11 editions of Spectrum.

JackDirt: Why don’t you start by telling us a little bit about yourself and your background.
Keith Thompson: I’m English, grew up in Canada, currently in my early twenties, and I’ve worked my whole life as an artist.
JD: When did you first decide that you wanted to specialize in fantasy art and illustration? Do you dislike the term fantasy art?
Excommunicate.Net has once again had opportunity to interview another fantastic artist, James Naccarato. James a Californian, is married and has three fantastic children. Where he finds the time to do his artwork and help take care of his kids; is nothing short of amazing. However he does succeed, it is with great pleasure and honor that I present this interview with James Naccarato.

JackDirt: Have you always been artistic or did that come later in life? Did you have any formal artistic training?
James Naccarato: I was drawing the world around me at a very young age. I was definitely addicted to coloring books for quite a few years, eventually graduating to copying comics and various photographs. I became more serious about art in high school and about 6 years after high school I decided to really get serious. I enrolled at Laguna College of Art and Design and studied fine art and illustration and thus my 60 hour work week began.
JD:What is your preferred medium and why do you feel you are drawn to it?
