Day 117 of 365 new ways to a new you. Congratulations, you have made it this far. Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Are you ready for tomorrow? This is part of a series that is going to span 365 days. Some things will be subtle other activities will be more involved. At the end of the 365 days even if you do only 20 of these things you will be a new person, for better or for worse.

Often we spend much of our time focusing on what we don’t have instead of what we do have. This is especially true in western culture or the United States “Land of Opportunity”.

Day 117: Celebrate what you have
Instead of focusing on the have nots take a moment to appreciate everything you do have. Show genuine gratitude for it, don’t just say “Yeah, I am thankful but I wish…” When we start to show appreciation for what we do have our situation and our mood improves.

It is a well known fact that when all you perceive is negativity that is what you will get. Spend the day focusing only on those positive and good things, even in people you dislike. At the end of the day you may find that things are not nearly as bad as they seem.
