Do someone else's job | Day 71
1 September 07Day 71 of 365 new ways to a new you. Congratulations, you have made it this far. Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Are you ready for tomorrow? This is part of a series that is going to span 365 days. Some things will be subtle other activities will be more involved. At the end of the 365 days even if you do only 20 of these things you will be a new person, for better or for worse.
Before I begin with day seventy-one, I must defer you to our Terms and Conditions .
This is similar to the old axiom “Never judge a man unless you walk a mile in his shoes.” Except you will be doing someone else’s job for the day. Doing the work they do, dealing with the problems they deal with. It is quite common to hear a retailer say to a co-worker, “They obviously never worked at a retail store in their life.” Obviously the person is giving these poor employees some sort of maltreatment that an in the know retailer would know not to do.
Day 71: Do someone else’s job
Today volunteer to do someone else’s job. You may need to find some sort of non-profit organization that will take your services. Unless you actually want to apply for a job completely outside your comfort zone. Doing a job that you would never consider, not only reworks your frame of mind but gives you a tremendous appreciation for the difficult labors others must endure.
