Learn to hunt | Day 179

19 December 07

Day 179 of 365 new ways to a new you. Congratulations, you have made it this far. Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Are you ready for tomorrow? This is part of a series that is going to span 365 days. Some things will be subtle other activities will be more involved. At the end of the 365 days even if you do only 20 of these things you will be a new person, for better or for worse.

Before I begin with day 179, I must defer you to our Terms and Conditions .

It is a sad thing to know that many hunters don’t appreciate their kill. It is mechanical and remorseless. Worst yet are those that kill for no purpose. It is disrespectful.

Day 179: Learn to hunt
There are any number of ways one can learn to hunt. One may learn from reading or from watching a video. However, if you ever truly want to be a hunter you must actually hunt. Pick a method of learning, if you are fortunate maybe you already know someone who is a hunter. If not you may be learning from books.

Be mindful of the kill you make and appreciate the sacrifice of the animal. This is what makes hunting different than a slaughter house, practice of morals. Many take hunting as an opportunity to kill and run amock, in much the same way one can on a video game. Which goes against the basic tenants of respecting life.

Wow. Amoung the many hunters I know, including myself there are zero male or female hunters that consider the work, knowledge, emotion that goes into a hunt as “a video game? Run amock?” This is not your insight, just an uneducated guess. You should continue to shop at the super market and support the decades of cruelty to animals. You are a misguided person. It sounds like it might be time to check your own set of morals.

While I appreciate your comment Matt it seems you missed the preceding statement.

While I did say many hunters take it as an opportunity to run amok. Which, I know is true because every year hunting season starts the folk around here talk about how they shot this squirrel, that porcupine, all while drunk. Despite the fact I said they like to run amok I was not condoning it. It would seem then you are one of the few wise hunters that appreciate their kill and for that you have my respect.
