Dance of the Dead

“HE warder he gazes o’ the night
On the graveyards under him lying,
The moon into clearness throws all by her light,
The night with the daylight is vying.
There’s a stir in the graves, and forth from their tombs
The form of a man, then a woman next looms
In garments long trailing and snowy.” ~Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Day 27: Memorize a poem
Poetry is often seen as the creative outlet to writing. Some poetry is some amazing in its simplicity and message that it deserves more than existing solely in a book. Find a poem you enjoy, it can be about anything by any author. Memorize at least the first stanza of the poem.

Memorizing poetry not only gives us a chance to work on a memory recall and memorization skills; but it also allows us a moment to have something to share with history. The ability to recite poetry from memory also gives an air of civility and sophistication. This can be used to catch someone off guard if one’s outward appearance is typically that of a “lowly commoner”. If for no other reason you memorize a poem memorize it because it means something to you.
