Television series can often involve more complex plots an character development than a typical movie. Over time especially long exposures we find ourselves forming mental kinships with characters on the TV. Are these ideas and thoughts we have towards these fictitious persons, any less valid than our “real” interactions?
Day 33: Watch an entire season of a television series
Pick a relatively thought provoking Television series such as Life on Mars, Hex, Heroes, Lost, etc. When you find a series you like get some food and snacks and start your Tv-athon. The objective of watching a series all at once; is that we will quickly identify and develop bonds with the characters. These bonds or kinships can help us learn who we think we are versus who we may want to be. This is especially true in more fantastic series.
After the show is over write down your favorite characters and why you like them. Do the same for characters you dislike as well. After you do that write down a list of your real friends and foes and compare the two. Look for similarities and differences between the two sets. This will help you to gain a better understanding of yourself and the friends you keep.
